I personally like her better as a nonfiction essayist or memoirist than as a fiction writer. If you read Truth and Beauty, though, you'll also have to read Autobiography of a Face because the the book is about her relationship with Lucy Grealy.<br /><br />I totally know what you mean about people assuming book lovers don't need books as gifts! First it was my birthday, then Hanukkah and no new books came my way!
