And yes, Phillip was horrible and so abusive towards her. I didn't get why she couldn't leave him. It was frustrating to read. Her mom was pretty awful as well - ugh! Madeleine was an adult - she could have gotten a job and paid her own way - who cares what anyone would think if she left her crappy husband! I'm with you, this book was perfect for distracting me from the real world for a few hours - just what I needed :) Nadiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14315207186180201488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7892722103504759154.post-62018794118584348012016-07-14T17:27:01.216-04:002016-07-14T17:27:01.216-04:00I wished that Madeleine had been a little less pas...I wished that Madeleine had been a little less passive - I know she's only seen wives that stand by their man but damn that Phillip was abusive! Oh wait, of course that's why she was so passive! Otherwise, this was just the right book to take my mind off all of the stuff going on in the world today.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05554217416500328610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7892722103504759154.post-91554526767174279722016-07-12T08:10:11.807-04:002016-07-12T08:10:11.807-04:00Lark, I know what you mean :)

Let me know what you think once you've read it :)

M, your mom is right - its definitely formulaic, but what book isn't lately? I just really enjoyed it, especially Margie's section when she's living in Paris - who doesn't want to read about Paris in the 20s? I'm encouraged that there are many parts you liked, and I can only imagine how glorious the backdrop of Paris will be. When I get to it. Thanks for reviewing it for us, for Paris in July!Bellezza https://www.blogger.com/profile/18073864187188953633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7892722103504759154.post-79114434513746046602016-07-11T18:18:12.164-04:002016-07-11T18:18:12.164-04:00This sounds good.
