2009 has been a good reading year for me. I have read a variety of books, all of which have made some sort of impression on me. However, there were only a few that I found to be truly engaging and worth recommending to family and friends. Here are my favorite books of 2009:8

The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery

Great choices! Alias Grace is one of my favourite books of all time and I have 84 Charing Cross on my to be read pile. Looking forward to it. Happy New Year!

The Housekeeper and The Professor will be in my top ten, too. I really had hoped that The Elegance of the Hedgehog would be, too. If the first half had done as much for me as the second half, it probably would be.
I haven't read any of the books on this list (for shame!) but many of them are ones I would like to read... hopefully in 2010!
I liked The Elegance of The Hedgehog, but I loved The Housekeeper and The Professor. It's definitely on of my top reads of 09.
What a great list! I haven't read any of them, but am sure I'll love The Housekeeper and the Professor and The Elegance of the Hedgehog. I plan to read Hedgehog next week, so I hope I enjoy it as much as you did.
