JLC7 begins NOW!!!

Guess what time it is folks?  Its JLC7 time!! Yep, Bellezza's popular reading challenge is back and I am so excited!! I look forward to it every year and can't wait to start reading some fantastic new-to-me Japanese literature.  This time round, Bellezza has decided to shake things up a bit and I have to admit I like the changes she's made.  So, what are they? And, what is the JLC7?

Well, its a reading challenge hosted by blogger, Dolce Bellezza and it runs from from June 1st through January 30, 2014.  To participate you just have to read at least one work of Japanese literature.  One book! That's it! And this year, she's decided to expand the parameters a bit by including: short stories, children's books, mystery, biography, manga, poetry, and sci-fi/fantasy.  Pretty cool, eh?  Oh, and she's going to have a theme for each month of the challenge - but it's optional, so you don't have to adhere to it when it comes to your reading choices.  And, to make the challenge even more fun, she's going to have a bookish prize each month for one lucky winner!  Bellezza will announce the theme and prize at the beginning of each month, so make sure to check out her blog to find out what its going to be.  Here's a link to the review site where you go to link up your JLC7 posts: JLC7

So, what do you think?  Sounds pretty awesome, doesn't it?  Well, I hope you decide to join in on all of the fun.  I know I can't wait to figure out which books I want to read for the challenge.  I'm thinking Murakami, Murakami, and more Murakami.   And, perhaps some Banana Yoshimoto and Yoko Ogawa to mix it up a bit.  Either way, I'm really looking forward to immersing myself in Japanese literature and am going to head on over to some bookish sites to find some new-to-me authors.  Wish me luck!  And, I hope to see you over at the JLC7 review site posting some of your own reviews.

Happy reading!!!

Holy smokes, you make it sound so wonderful I want to sign up! ;) Thank you, friend, for your enthusiasm, after I complete a few promised reviews in the non-Japanese genre, I'm going to devote most of my attention to the challenge. I have had a huge stack waiting for me for years!
Looking forward to discussing what you choose to read, too.

You know I love the new woman in your header. I had thought of her for my icon when I was at Wordpress; she's lovely.
