Frankenstein in June

Look what I will be reading in June:
I'm so excited.  I've had this book on my TBR list for quite some time, but have never gotten around to it.  This June I will finally give it a read.  Why?  Well, June 16th is the 200th anniversary of the night Mary Shelley was inspired to write Frankenstein.  How cool is that? And to celebrate, Frances from Nonsuch Book and a few other book bloggers, will be discussing Frankenstein come June 16th and I plan on joining in on the fun. Celebrating inspiration instead of publication - I absolutely love it!

I think it'll be a fun book to discuss. What do you think?  Have you read this classic Gothic novel by Mary Shelley?  Did you enjoy it or loathe it? Let me know.  And if you want to join in on the fun, then please do.  Remember, its not til June, so you have plenty of time to decide.

Happy reading!!

I have read this book. Once. And I liked it, but I thought it was sad. I didn't know it was turning 200 this year. In June, huh? Might have to put it on my list to read again. Because I think it's a book worth reading more than once.

I have always wanted to read this one and have tried...twice. Maybe reading it with others is the secret to actually getting it read.

This is cool! I've read this book, and I absolutely loved it, but it also really deserves a re-read. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for helping to spread the word! I am very excited about this one. It has been years since I read it. Going to be re-watching lots of Frankenstein movies as well!

Lark, definitely join and read it this June. Should be fun!

Ti, me too! That's what I think as well. Please join in on the fun. We can read it together!!

Andi, yes it is cool :) That's awesome that you loved it! Your welcome and I hope you join in on the fun!

Frances, thanks for thinking of Frankenstein in June :) I'm really excited, too! I love that idea of re-watching the movies!!

I've never been drawn to this book. Probably because I think I know the story - I'm sure I really don't though. We all know how Hollywood destroys a good book.

Kathy, I can understand that and agree that Hollywood can destroy a good book (happens much too often). I think I know the story, too - but I still want to read it and find out about what I don't know :)

I'm planning to read Frankenstein and blog about it, probably in May on Bookword blog. I have never read it and it's about time I did. Also I have tickets to see the Royal Ballet production based on the novel, in May. Looking forward to those two events, and the dicussion of the 200th anniversary which your post has generated!

I've read it, but usually in October not June! All the same, I'm looking forward to our bookish discussions. By the way, I've begun Jane Eyre and cannot put it down. Love it even more than the first time through.
