about book:
In a modern and twisty retelling of Jane Eyre, a young woman must question everything she thinks she knows about love, loyalty, and murder.
Jane has lost everything: job, mother, relationship, even her home. A friend calls to offer an unusual deal - a cottage above the crashing surf of Big Sur on the estate of his employer, Evan Rochester. In return, Jane will tutor his teenage daughter. She accepts.
But nothing is quite as it seems at the Rochester estate. Though he’s been accused of murdering his glamorous and troubled wife, Evan Rochester insists she drowned herself. Jane is skeptical, but she still finds herself falling for the brilliant and secretive entrepreneur and growing close to his daughter.
And yet her deepening feelings for Evan can’t disguise dark suspicions aroused when a ghostly presence repeatedly appears in the night’s mist and fog. Jane embarks on an intense search for answers and uncovers evidence that soon puts Evan’s innocence into question. She’s determined to discover what really happened that fateful night, but what will the truth cost her?
my thoughts:
I'm a huge fan of retellings, so I was thrilled to get my hands on a Lindsay Marcott's novel, Mrs. Rochester's Ghost - a modern retelling of Jane Eyre. How exciting!! Suffice it to say, I was hooked right from the start and found myself reading late into the night. I just loved the dual POVs - Jane and Beatrice (Rochester's wife) - and found them useful in piecing together what the full story was about the Rochester estate, Thorn Bluffs (what a name!) and its inhabitants. Such a great read!
Marcott has created a terrific interpretation of Jane Eyre with Mrs. Rochester's Ghost- the creepy estate, the volatile Rochester, the ghostly visions, and Jane's naïveté. I really enjoyed getting to know Jane and Beatrice - reading about their experiences with Rochester and Thorn Bluffs - OMG! I love how the estate itself becomes a character. And, the story was just fun to get lost in. I would happily recommend Mrs. Rochester's Ghost to fans of Marcott and fans of Jane Eyre - you will LOVE this book!!

So many retellings of Eyre. This one sounds pretty good though. Ghost stories and fall coming up. Makes me happy.
I also am a huge fan of retellings, I'm excited to get into this one. Thank you for being on this tour! Sara @ TLC Book Tours
