I had decided to participate in my friend, Rowena's, #onebookjune challenge this month. You choose one planner and use it for the entire month for all of your planning, journaling, to-dos, etc.. The point is to try out a new type of planner and to put everything into one book (since everyone seems to have too many planners they are forgetting to use.) My plan was to use an A5 Midori MD Diary (thin version - the one with the monthlies in front and graph paper in the back.) I had purchased one to use for an event later this year, but it was cancelled. So, I decided to use it for #onebookjune. I tore out all the months, except for June. My plan was to use the monthly for June for my planning - jot down appointments and to-dos that I MUST do on those two pages. On the remaining graph pages I was going to journal and use the pages for scribbles. I thought that could be a fun way to repurpose the planner and to join in on the challenge. I was going to decorate the book and pages with ephemera, washi tape, and stickers. Sounds, fun, right?
Well, it wasn't. We are barely on day 3 and I've already given up. After chatting in the group page and watching planner videos, I realized that I am not a planner person. I'd rather journal than plan. Don't get me wrong, I need a planner (or three), but I use them for specific things and that is all. I like them separate and I like how I use them. It's my journaling that needs to be downsized into one book. Instead of having several journals for gratitude, self-help advice, art journaling, quotes, and my personal journaling - which is crazy! - I should put everything into one book. That's how I used to journal when I was young - put it all in a pretty journal. I didn't separate anything. I'm not even sure why I started doing that. Anyhow, I think that I'm going to use #onebookjune to fall back in love with my journaling and put it all in one pretty book. And, I'll keep my planning the way it is - one for general planning, one for finances, and one for book blogging.
What do you think? Are you into planning, or journaling, or both? What do you use? What do you recommend? Let me know. And, I'll let you know how I get on with #onebookjune.
Wishing you a lovely week! Happy reading!

I don't use a planner...never have. I'm more of a Post-It girl. I use lots of those for reminders and short to do lists. And I used to journal all the time; I'd get a new one every year and fill it, but I stopped doing that a few years ago. My writing was getting too negative and depressing. And I keep trying to start up a gratitude journal, but I never get too far in it before all my entries start sounding the same. So now I mostly just write blog posts and call it a day. ;D
Lark, I love this! Blog posts can be the perfect way to write it out :) I'm realizing that I'm not a planner person, either. I love using post-its! I'm definitely more of a jotting it down on a scrap paper type of person. Or a grabbing a notebook to keep a running list type of person. I'm definitely into journaling more than anything. I know what you mean though, mine have been rather depressing for a while, which is why I'm not journaling like I used to. But, I want to fall back into it, so I'm going to give it a go. Wish me luck!

I am a planner person and got a new planner for this year, but with the surgery and all the planner has remained untouched. I rely now on my Google calendar. It's always with me and it's not as exciting as cracking open a new planner but I don't have the patience or energy for it anymore. That's ok.
Ti, I can dig that about not having the patience or energy anymore for planning in a book when you can just tap everything in digital. And, it makes sense with how this year has been for you. And you're right, it's okay. Especially, if it is working, even though it might be different now. :)
