Japanese Literature Challenge 5 is here!!

It's back!! The JLC5 has begun! Hosted by Dolce Bellezza, this reading challenge is all about Japanese Literature.  From Murakami to Ogawa to Yoshimoto, there are so many wonderful authors to choose from.

And the rules are simple:
"read one book from June 1, 2011 until January 30, 2012. If you want to read more than one, wonderful. If one is all you can manage, wonderful. Once you've read it, you may wish to post your review on the JLC5 review site."

One book! How easy is that? I know I'll definitely be reading more than one - especially, since I've been putting books aside specifically for this challenge - and, yes, The Lake by Banana Yoshimoto is one of those books!  However, if you do need help figuring out which books to read for the JLC5, Bellezza has included a "suggested reading list" on the JLC5 site - check it out!

Alright, I'm off to read! Hope you visit the JLC5 site and decide to join in on the fun! Happy reading!!

I may have to do this as I have a Murakami on my shelf that I have let sit there neglected. It is just so intimidating to me!

bermudaonion, thanks! I plan to ;)

She, go for it! And don't be intimidated by Murakami - you will love his work! By the by, which book is it?

This comment comes from Bellezza:

Nadia, for crying out loud, I thought I'd commented on your post days ago! Thank you for participating again, and I'm so looking forward to sharing thoughts on Japanese literature again. It looks as though many people will be reading The Lake, which is a good thing, and I'm so excited for the release of 1Q84. Perhaps a read-along is in order for that one?

Nadia, thanks for posting my comment for me. It appears that the problem is solved now, thank goodness! XOXO

Haha, ONE book? That does seem doable. I don't know that I've actually read any Japanese literature. Chinese, yes, but Japanese no. Might have to look into this problem. :)

Wallace, you must join in on the fun! And remedy that situation - read some Japanese Literature :)

Nadia, we both have The Lake on our shelves to be read. I'm so booked in June, but I'm thinking I'll begin that in July. Looking forward to discussing it with you when we both have it read.
