In the tradition of The Devil Wears Prada comes Rosie Nixon’s debut novel, which follows a young woman who is thrown into the fast-paced world of fashion and glamour as she’s forced to navigate the treacherous Hollywood red carpets…while finding a fairytale love of her own.
“A stylish, fun read, I absolutely loved it!”—Jackie Collins
Amber Green loves working at Smith’s, London’s ultra-exclusive boutique frequented by everyone who’s anyone, including Mona Armstrong, the stylist to the stars. She is fierce, demanding, and can make or break a career with a snap of her manicured nails.
When Mona’s latest assistant walks out and with awards season arriving faster than you can say “Rodeo Drive”, Amber finds herself agreeing to work for one of the most infamous—and volatile—women in Hollywood. And the stars aren’t much better. Amber’s life is turned inside out as she becomes familiar with all Hollywood has to offer, on and off the red carpet.
As she begins to enjoy life in the dressing rooms of the hottest stars, Amber discovers she’s the one in the spotlight when she catches the attention of two very different men. But Mona’s behavior is growing increasingly erratic and unless Amber can out-style everyone in Hollywood, she’s in danger of being Mona’s latest fashion victim.
I love chick lit, especially when its about the fashion world. So, how could I resist reading Rosie Nixon's latest work, The Stylist. A story about a young woman who gets caught up in the styling world that is chock full of fashion, celebrities, and romance - talk about a must-read!
Amber works as a shop girl in one of London's most exclusive boutiques. Mona is THE stylist to the stars. The two women meet when Mona comes in to Amber's shop. Following a mishap, Amber soon finds herself working as Mona's personal assistant, which means that she is now doing anything and everything that Mona wants. Celebrities, fashion, awards season, and La La Land - what is a young gal to do? Well, enjoy it all, right? And that is precisely what Amber plans to do. Except, sometimes a dream job turns out to be a bit of a nightmare instead.
Nixon has written a fun and engaging story that will transport you from London to LA through fashion, Hollywood, and a few romantic entanglements. The writing is top notch and chock full of LOL moments that will have you cracking up left and right. The characters are silly, over the top, and somewhat relatable at times, which makes the story even more fun to read. As for the story itself, talk about a jolly good read - I just loved it!
I would happily recommend The Stylist to anyone and everyone looking for their next great read. Here's the link to the TLC Book Tour schedule for: The Stylist
