Currently reading...

I've been sick with the flu these past few weeks, so reading has been my medicine.  Luckily, the new Murakami came out recently, so I've been reading that.  And let me just say, this story is AMAZING.  Its typical Murakami and I am loving the familiarity of that fact.  The way he blends the real and unreal is sublime.  I am taking my sweet time with this story and loving every minute I spend with it.

What about you? What are you reading? Let me know, I'm compiling a list of books to read.

Well, I'm off to pick up where I last left the Commendatore.  Happy reading!!

I'm not sure how will new book will end but right now it's up there with my faves. There is just something about his writing. it's plain but deep. I read comments on Twitter all the time about how his writing is too simple, nothing there, blah blah. You just don't get it , then. His stuff is simple to read as far as word choice, narration, etc. But it's not simple in theory. Plus he is so descriptive. I am in that house with that painting. No doubt about it.

Lark, thanks! And, I am finally starting to feel better :)

Ti, me too! I am really digging it. I am loving that house on the mountain and just imagining that painting right in front of me. I love the simplicity of his writing, because there is so much depth to it - the way he can merge the real and unreal is fantastic. And the way he writes about loneliness/solitude is authentic. And his descriptions of everything just bring it all to life. I am always in awe of how he can sweep you away with his stories. I'm with you, the people saying its too simple just don't get it - and they are missing out big time.
