The Last To See Her by Courtney Evan Tate

(Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book!)

about book:

A woman disappears into the dark city night...

Gen is on the verge of a divorce from her cheating husband. When her sister, Meg, has a convention to attend in the Big Apple, she invites Gen along to celebrate her newly found freedom. But the perfect sisters' getaway quickly goes awry when a tipsy Gen defiantly throws her wedding ring off the hotel room's balcony. Then, wanting some fresh air, she decides to take a late-evening walk alone and vanishes without a trace.

The investigation that follows uncovers secrets--and betrayals--between sisters and spouses that will twist the truth in on itself until nothing is clear.

What really happened to Gen and who, besides Meg, was the last to see her?

my thoughts:

OMG! What a story! Meg and Gen are sisters out on the town celebrating Gen's freedom from her bad marriage. They eat, they drink, and they talk.  Gen even throws her wedding ring over the balcony. Needing some fresh air, she decides to go for a walk.  Except, she never comes back. Yep, what happened to Get? Where did she go? How could she have just vanished? Those are the questions that run through your head as you read this suspense-filled drama. Of course, the more you read and the more your start to suspect the people that 'loved' Gen, you can't help but alter your questions - Was Meg involved in Gen's disappearance? What secrets did the two sisters keep from one another? Hmm...so many ideas, thoughts, and questions. I just loved diving into this story!

Courtney Evan Tate has written a terrific mystery thriller about two sisters, a failed marriage, and a disappearance. The characters are annoying, flawed, relatable, and unreliable.  The story is chock full of twists and turns. Overall, The Last To See Her is a simple and engaging story that will have you flipping pages and trying to figure out what happened. It's definitely a great read for these chilly winter nights (or in my case, humid and hot South Florida winter nights.)

I would recommend The Last To See Her to fans of Courtney Evan Tate and anyone looking for their next fun read - you will definitely enjoy this book!

You know me. This is something I'd like.

How are you? I've been a little quiet because my darn phone crashed without warning. I love Google but I was not in love with any of the Google phones out right now so I went to the dark side and got an iPhone. Eeeeesh. I know to use the operating system because I use it for work but not having a way to access your old content was a pain. Took me way too long to setup and I've been distracted by it. Also, my biopsy came back clean but I am having a problem as a result of the biopsy and hoping I do not need surgery to correct it. Can't I just enjoy my vacation? See, I am a little bit of a Debbie Downer right now.
