The Final Child by Fran Dorricott

(Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book!)

about book: (summary from Goodreads)

A stunning psychological thriller from the author of After the Eclipse, for readers of Ruth Ware and S.K. Tremeyne.

Erin and her brother Alex were the last children abducted by 'the Father', a serial killer who only ever took pairs of siblings. She escaped, but her brother was never seen again. Traumatised, Erin couldn't remember anything about her ordeal, and the Father was never caught.

Eighteen years later, Erin has done her best to put the past behind her. But then she meets Harriet. Harriet's young cousins were the Father's first victims and, haunted by their deaths, she is writing a book about the disappearances and is desperate for an interview. At first, Erin wants nothing to do with her. But then she starts receiving sinister gifts, her house is broken into, and she can't shake the feeling that she's being watched. After all these years, Erin believed that the Father was gone, but now she begins to wonder if he was only waiting...

my thoughts:

Wow. What a book! Talk about horrifying, thrilling, and absolutely captivating! The Final Child by Fran Dorricott kept me up all night long and had me jumping at every bump in the night I heard. This book was terrific!

'The Father' is a serial killer whose victims were taken in pairs. Bodies would be found or never seen again. Erin and her brother Alex were his last victims.  Erin survived - she escaped 'The Father'.  Fast forward eighteen years, and Erin is living her life with her past firmly placed in her past.  She meets Harriet, a woman writing a book about her cousins - the first victims of 'The Father'.  She wants to interview Erin, but Erin is not up to the task. Except, bad things are starting to happen to Erin - her house gets broken into, someone's watching her - and you can't help but wonder, who is behind it all. Is it coincidence that she met Harriet? Or is 'The Father' back? Talk about creepy, tense, and chilling!

Dorricott has written a great story that will hook you from the start. The characters are interesting and flawed. The story itself is intriguing and addictive.  And, the whole atmosphere of the book is just disturbing, mysterious, and suspenseful - you can't help but cling to its pages.  The Final Child is one book you won't want to miss out on - check it out!

I saw this book on Goodreads just the other day. It does look good. Have you read Dorricott's other book After the Eclipse? I want to read that one, too. :)
