I love self-help books. I'm all about mindfulness and wellness reads. They are my jam. I think it all stems from my need to find any which way to help me deal with my depression and anxiety (aside from therapy and medication). So, I was excited to get my hands on a copy of Reena Vokoun's book, The Wellness-Empowered Woman: Living A Passion Fit Life To Elevate Your Health, Happiness, Family, And Career - how great does that sound!?
Vokoun was trying to balance it all and she burned out. She knew she needed to figure out a way to take care of herself, fulfill her passions, and tackler her never-ending to-do list. So, she came up with the idea for a Passion Fit Life. Yep, she reinvented herself and discovered a method chock full of solutions that would help her take care of herself - health, soul, passions, etc.. - so, that she could take care of her family and career, as well. Talk about an inspiring and informative read! I just loved getting to know Vokoun and all about her journey to becoming a 'wellness-empowered woman.'
This book teaches you to always listen to your gut - at the end of the day, you always know the answer, it just may not be what you want it to be. Also, remember that failure is a part of life, so it's okay to fail - we all do it. And, learning from our failures most definitely helps us in the long run. I know these are simples ideas that we all already know, but I feel like sometimes we tend to forget them, because we get caught up in all the noise and distraction of life. So, going back to basics is key. Vokoun reminds us of this and I love that.
