The Boy Is Back by Meg Cabot

(Thank you to the publisher and TLC Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book!)
about book:

In this brand-new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a scandal brings a young man back home to the small town, crazy family, and first love he left behind.

Reed Stewart thought he’d left all his small town troubles—including a broken heart—behind when he ditched tiny Bloomville, Indiana, ten years ago to become rich and famous on the professional golf circuit.  Then one tiny post on the Internet causes all of those troubles to return . . . with a vengeance.

Becky Flowers has worked hard to build her successful senior relocation business, but she’s worked even harder to forget Reed Stewart ever existed. She has absolutely no intention of seeing him when he returns—until his family hires her to save his parents.

Now Reed and Becky can’t avoid one another—or the memories of that one fateful night.  And soon everything they thought they knew about themselves (and each other) has been turned upside down, and they—and the entire town of Bloomville—might never be the same, all because The Boy Is Back.

my thoughts:

Talk about a fun, hilarious, sweet, and engaging story! I absolutely LOVED The Boy Is Back by Meg Cabot.

Becky is living her life, working hard, enjoying her family, friends and boyfriend (the lumbersexual).  Basically, life is good.  And then, she gets a text from her sister with a link to a newspaper article about her ex-boyfriend's parents getting arrested for trying to pay for dinner with a stamp.  Crazy, eh?  Well, it gets even crazier when she gets an email asking her company to do a job for her ex's family.  This is the same ex who was her first (and only) true love - the one she could never get over, even after her he smashed her heart to pieces ten years ago.  Yep, the ex who left town and became a rich and famous golfer - the kind that dates models and snags advertising deals.  So, what does Becky decide to do?  Take on the job and treat her ex cordially.  Except, sometimes exes and old feelings that never really went away shouldn't mix.  Hmmm....looks like The Boy being back in town just might be what Becky needed.  And that is all I will say about his terrific story.

Told via text messages, emails, Amazon reviews, etc., The Boy Is Back tackles love, family, and friendship in such a fun and unique way. I just loved turning one page of texts to find an Amazon review of a porcelain kitten - talk about creative storytelling.  And the characters were so much fun to get caught up with - all of their personal dramas were relatable, realistic, and entertaining to read about.  I LOVED this book!  It was laugh out loud funny and unputdownable!  I would definitely recommend The Boy Is Back to fans of the Boys series, fans of Cabot, and anyone looking for their next great read.

Royal Wedding: A Princess Diaries Novel by Meg Cabot

(Thank you to the publisher and TLC Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book!)
about book:

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding—but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.

For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia’s gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn’t need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royaloui.

But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother’s leaked “fake” wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia’s father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch.  Can Mia prove to everyone—especially herself—that she’s not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?

my thoughts:

I am a HUGE fan of The Princess Diaries movie - they are so fun to watch!  So, when I heard about Cabot's latest book, Royal Wedding, I jumped at the chance to read it.  I had to find out who Mia was going to marry and how the Big Day would turn out.  And let me just say, I'm so happy that I read this book - it was the best way to reunite with Mia Thermopolis!

Now 25, Mia is living in NYC, running a teen community center, and enjoying her princess duties.  She's got her family, friends, and longtime boyfriend in her corner offering love and support.  Life is good.  And it gets even better when Michael whisks her away and proposes to her.  Talk about exciting!!  I guess his "foot popping" kisses are simply too good to give up - LOL!  Of course, once news of a fake wedding hit the papers, life gets a bit chaotic for Mia.  Of course it doesn't help that her father is dealing with the law over a traffic violation.  Oh, and then there's that pesky problem of somebody trying to take her father's rightful place at the throne.  Cripes!  Seems like life is getting even more complicated.  Yikes!

Luckily, Mia has the strength within herself to step up to each and every challenge thrown her way.  Plus, not all of the challenges are bad news - think new family member in the form of a half-sister.  Yep, Mia has a sibling!  I swear, this book is chock full of DRAMA and I absolutely loved it all.  Cabot has written a clever, funny story about that awkward teen with the frizzy hair we all grew to love, finally stepping into her role as an adult woman on the verge (of marriage, ruling Genovia, and finding herself).  Talk about a treat to read!  Royal Wedding was such a fun book!  I would happily recommend it to fans of Meg Cabot and her A Princess Diaries series - you will LOVE this book!!!

The Bride Wore Size 12: A Novel by Meg Cabot

(Thank you to the publisher and TLC Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book!)

Love, love, love! I absolutely enjoyed this funny, quick-paced mystery starring a sassy gal named Heather Wells.  Apparently, this is the fifth and final installment in the Heather Wells Mystery series - a fact that I didn't know prior to reading this book.  Luckily, the author provides plenty of informative references to Heather's past, so that newbie readers (like me!) never feel confused about any of the continuing story lines from previous books.

So, what did I love about this book?  All of the craziness that makes up Heather's life!  There is her upcoming wedding to hunky Cooper Cartwright.  With a month to go, there are still a lot of details to finish planning for the big day - only thing is, their expensive and top-notch wedding planner seems to always be unavailable.  And, suddenly everyone seems to be invited to the wedding - people Heather had no idea were even on the guest list!  Oh, and Heather's mom is back on the scene - the same mom who stole all of Heather's pop star earnings (yes, she was a pop star!) and ran off with her manager.  Talk about an unpleasant blast from the past.  Plus, Heather's already crazy-busy job as an assistant resident hall director has just gotten even more crazy - not only does she have to deal with unhappy parents requesting room changes for the kids, but she has a murder mystery to solve!  A resident adviser named Jasmine has turned up dead in her dorm room and its barely orientation week - what else can go wrong!?!  Cripes! Looks like Heather has another whodunit to solve at the "Death Dorm" (yeah, the dorm has a bad history of residents getting murdered).  Could the culprit be the VIR (very important resident - a prince!) that the university is bending over backwards to take care of?  Hmmm.  Suspicions are up in the air and Heather is all over it!

Now, doesn't that sound like a fun read?  Well, it is!  The Bride Wore Size 12 is a fun, engaging, light read that will have you laughing out loud and knitting your brows in surprise.  I would absolutely recommend this book to fans of Meg Cabot and her popular series, The Heather Wells Mysteries, along with fans of women's fiction and mystery novels.  You will just love this book!
