Big Girl Panties: A Novel by Stephanie Evanovich

(Thank you to the publisher and TLC Book Tours for providing me with a copy of this book!)
about book:

Holly didn’t expect to be a widow at thirty-two. She also didn’t expect to be so big. After her husband’s death, food was the one thing she could always count on. Then she meets Logan Montgomery, a personal trainer so hot that he makes her sweat in all the right (and so embarrassingly wrong!) places. Charmed by her witty wisecracks and sharp insights, he impulsively offers to help get her back in shape.

To Logan’s (and her own) surprise, Holly turns out to be a natural in the gym, slimming down into a bona fide looker with killer curves—and a new kind of hunger. Before either of them can stop it, the easy intimacy of their training sessions leads to even more steamy workouts away from the gym.
But can a man whose whole life depends on looks commit himself to a woman who doesn’t fit his ideal? Now that Holly’s turning other men’s heads, does she even need Logan anymore? Are they a couple built to last . . . or destined to fizzle?

my thoughts

Talk about perfect timing!  Big Girl Panties was just what the doctor ordered - chick lit!!  After reading some pretty depressing books, I found that I was in dire need of something light and frothy (preferably with some pink on the cover).  I wanted a story that would engage me, but not emotionally drain me.  I wanted chick lit.  Luckily, Evanovich's novel fit the bill.

Big Girl Panties is a funny, quick read.  You will cheer for the characters, relate to their dramas/struggles, and laugh out loud at their quick-witted sarcasm. This book is the perfect pick-me-up.

So, what's the story about?  Holly and Logan meet on an airplane.  He's a personal trainer who is utterly disgusted by Holly's curvy body and can't believe that he's forced to sit next to her.  Holly is frustrated with life at the moment - there's been too much loss and sadness to deal with.  Sitting next to Logan is the last thing she wants to do, especially since she can feel Logan's resentment of her and her body.   Somehow the two manage to start talking and sooner than you can imagine Holly is agreeing to be Logan's client.  He offered to help get her body back in shape - something she thinks will help further motivate her to move forward with her life.  Well, you can probably guess what happens next - they become friends and then they become more than friends.  Of course, drama has to show its ugly face and throw a wrench in the couple's happiness.  Its all rather predictable, but I loved it nonetheless.  Plus, I couldn't help but get attached to Logan's best friends, Chase and Amanda - a delightful couple that pretty much help make this book such a great read.  Overall, I really enjoyed the book.

I would definitely recommend Stephanie Evanovich's debut novel, Big Girl Panties, to fans of chick lit and women's fiction.  You will love the romance, heart break, and hilarity that make this story such a fun read.

I've never read anything by Evanovich except the Stephanie Plum books. Those always make me laugh and this one sounds like just the ticket to break things up, too.

I can't tolerate chick lit anymore but when I was in my twenties, this book would have been in my bag!
