The Further Adventures of Ebenezer Scrooge by Charlie Lovett

(Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book!)
Look what I found to read just in time for Christmas!  Yep, a sequel to Dickens' famed classic, A Christmas Carol.  How cool is that?  I'm a huge fan of Lovett's novels, The Bookman's Tale and First Impressions, so I just knew I would love to read his take on one of Dickens' classic tales.

Set twenty years later, Scrooge is still stuffed full of Christmas cheer.  He loves to give, give, give.  The only problem is that his zeal annoys everyone.  So, when he finds himself set on helping an old friend and a few others in town, he's tasked with getting help from the very people he's annoyed.  Talk about a tough job...or not.  With the help from three ghosts (Past, Present, and Future) and everyone else, Scrooge is able to fill the town with loads of Christmas spirit.  Talk about a sweet story!

Told in Dickensian prose and filled with beautiful illustrations, this wonderful story is an absolute treat to read.  I loved the familiarity of the characters, the love of Christmas, and the message of giving that this terrific book provides.  Its such a fun read.  I also thought it was great to find Scrooge just as Dickens left him - oozing with Christmas cheer.  Reconnecting with beloved characters is always a good time and Lovett proves just that with this amazing sequel.  I would happily recommend The Further Adventures of Ebenezer Scrooge to fans of Lovett, Dickens, and Christmas.  You will LOVE this book!!  Plus, it will make you want to pull out your old copy of A Christmas Carol and read into the night.  Talk about the perfect gift for your bookish pals!

Happy reading!! Happy Holidays!!
