Books I Can't Wait To Read...

Look at all the pretties coming out later this year - oh my!

In June:
The final book in the Bill Hodges trilogy - End of Watch!!  How could I not want to read this one?  Especially, as I loved the first two so hard.  I can't wait to find out how King resolves this tale of good v. evil.  I just know its going to be chock full of all the usual King-ness that always make his books MUST-READS!!

In July:
Her younger sister was killed and she knows who did it.  Years later, she's finally ready to point her finger.  So, she writes a book
about her sister's murder and agrees to give one interview.  The interviewer is the murderer!  Yep, she's set a trap and she's ready to take action.  How crazy does that sound?! Talk about a psychological thriller must-read! I'm thinking it will make for the perfect summer read.

In August:
Ivan's a smart kid who loves to read.  He's also disabled and has spent his whole life (seventeen years) living in a children's hospital.  Enter Polina, the new kid on the block (or hospital room), who loves to steal Ivan's books.  At first the two teens don't get along, but then feelings start to bloom and soon LOVE is not far behind.  And now, all Ivan wants is for Polina to live.  Talk about a heartfelt sounding read! I'm sure I'll be crying and laughing with this one.

According to Goodreads, this one is described as "A modern take on Sleeping Beauty, for fans of Jojo Moyes."  How amazing does that sound? As a huge fan of Moyes novels and Sleeping Beauty - this book is most definitely a must-read for me. A young woman lies in a coma for months.  Her loved ones and doctors wonder if perhaps its times to unplug her life support machines.  Except, they don't know one important fact - she can hear them now.  Yep, she's slowly coming round.  Enter a young man visiting his brother in hospital who happens upon woman in a coma.  He starts talking to her and she appears to listen to him.  They wind up falling in love.  And, I can't stop humming, Girlfriend in a Coma, as I type this.

In September:
Its a book about a writer who's career is fading.  Need I say more.  Oh, and its by Koch - the author of The Dinner ( a book that I absolutely LOVED and could not stop thinking about for weeks after ).

In October:
This one is finally being published in the States - Hurrah!!  I can't wait!!  I fell in love with Laurain's novels  The President's Hat and The Red Notebook- I couldn't stop gushing about them.  They were superb!  The writing was smart, funny, charming, and utterly delightful.  I just know that this new one will be unputdownable and unforgettable.  I think it will make for the perfect Fall read.

The seventeenth book in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series - how awesome is that?!  I know that I am keen to read this one ASAP.  I just love this series to bits and am always in the mood to catch up with Precious, Grace, and the rest of the wonderful cast that make up Alexander McCall Smith's beloved series. I am already picturing a large cuppa, a comfy chair, and this book in hand. I can't wait!

In November:
Finally, a new Zadie Smith novel to look forward to - Hurrah!! I'm really excited to dive into her latest story that explores friendship, music and dance, and the concept of 'roots'.  I just know that I'm going to be in for quite a treat.

A new book by Murakami! You just know that I'm going to be all over it.  I heart Murakami's books so hard.  Actually, I heart anything he writes - including his essays, book on running, and that advice column he had (albeit it was in Japanese, but I read the bits that were translated).  His latest is titled, Absolutely on Music: Conversations with Sieji Ozawa.  It consists of transcribed conversations he had with his friend, Ozawa - the former conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.  The topic - their love of music.  And we all know that Murakami loves music.   I mean the man opened a jazz cafe before he became a famous writer.  Plus, he always includes songs, names of musicians, etc. in his stories. - like in A Wild Sheep Chase, the protagonist and his girlfriend listen to Johnny Rivers in the background, which leads me to start humming Secret Agent Man).  Oh, and lets not forget his massive record collection (10,000 records!!).  Yeah, the man loves music. So, I'm sure this will make for quite an interesting read.

And there you have it.  The books that I am most looking forward to this year. What do you think?  Not a bad list, eh?  Let me know if you have any recommendations for upcoming books that I should remember to add to my TBR list.

Now I'm off to finish reading A Wild Sheep Chase. I'm at the part where they are staying at the Dolphin Hotel and just found out that the owner's dad may be able to help them find THE sheep. Talk about kismet!

Happy reading!
