Books I want...

Magazines really do alert you to some great new books don't they?  Look at what my copies of Elle and Vogue brought to my attention:  three new books that I want and need to read ASAP.

First off, anything Ann Patchett does, I'm in.  I LOVE her writing that much, that I will always read whatever she writes - she's just that damn good.  So, for Two, she's written the introduction and I'm looking forward to reading it, along with looking through Pinney's photographs.  And, did I mention that ten other AMAZING authors (Edwidge Danticat, Elizabeth Gilbert, and Barbara Kingsolver to name a few) have contributed short prose pieces alongside the photographs - how cool is that!  I can't wait to get my hands on a copy!!

You know I love short stories - they are my jam!  So, when I heard about this new book filled with shorts set in New Mexico, I just knew that I had to add the title to my TBR list.  According to Goodreads, the book is filled "With intensity, dark humor, and emotional precision" and "Always hopeful, these stories chart the passions and obligations of family life, exploring themes of race, class, and coming-of-age, as Quade's characters protect, betray, wound, undermine, bolster, define, and, ultimately, save one another."  How awesome does that sound?  I just love finding new-to-me authors to fall in love with.

As for Morrison's latest, well, I've know about this book for quite some time, but forgot when it was coming out - next week, April 21st!  After reading the summary (again), I am even more excited about it.  A book that is described as (by Goodreads) as "Spare and unsparing, God Help the Child is a searing tale about the way childhood trauma shapes and misshapes the life of the adult." is a must read for me.  Especially, as its written by none other than Toni Morrison - a master wordsmith whose books evoke such strong emotions and thoughts. I just know its going to be quite a terrific read.  I can't wait!!

And there you have it, the three books that I want NOW.  What do you think?  Do they sound good?  Do you have any recommendations - any books you think I should be adding to my TBR list?  Well, I hope you are having a bookish day.  Happy reading!!

Ti, I'm glad it made you laugh :) And I can totally understand feeling that way at the end of the week (or even the end of a very busy day). :)
