The Lies We Told: A Novel by Camilla Way

(Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book!)
about book:

The highly acclaimed author of Watching Edie returns with a new novel of dark psychological suspense that explores how those closest to us have the most to hide...

A daughter
Beth has always known there was something strange about her daughter, Hannah. The lack of emotion, the disturbing behavior, the apparent delight in hurting others...Sometimes Beth is scared of her and what she could be capable of.

A son
Luke comes from the perfect family, with the perfect parents. But one day, he disappears without a trace, and his girlfriend, Clara, is desperate to discover what has happened to him.

A life built on lies
As Clara digs into the past, she realizes that no family is truly perfect, and uncovers a link between Luke's long-lost sister and a strange girl named Hannah. Now Luke's life is in danger because of the lies once told and the secrets once kept. Can Clara find him before it's too late?

my thoughts:

Talk about a fun and thrilling read! The Lies We Told was terrific! It had me on the edge of my seat and I loved it.

Clara's boyfriend doesn't come home one night.  Everyone seems to think he's sleeping off a hangover somewhere.  Clara is worried.  When the hours keep ticking by, she phones the police.  Her boyfriend becomes a missing person - its on the news, the police are investigating, and Clara is searching for answers, too.  Soon, she is finding out things about her boyfriend that make him sound like a cheating arsehole.  She is starting to wonder who he really is.  The more she digs, the more she finds out about his family and the secrets they have been keeping.

Talk about DRAMA!! This story is chock full of it. There is even a back story that fits right in, except you aren't so sure how at first. Let me just say that I was more intrigued with that story, but then as the two merged I was OMGing as I read more and more.  The writing is smart, the twists and turns are delicious, and the characters are so flawed.  You will just gobble this up like I did. Definitely check it out - you will LOVE it!!
