about book:
What is a spy willing to do when both her heart and her country are at risk?
Life changes once again for British spy Miss Mary Bennet when Napoleon Bonaparte escapes from the Isle of Elba. Mary quickly departs England for Brussels, the city where the Allied forces prepare for war against the French. But shortly after her arrival, one of the Duke of Wellington's best officers is murdered, an event which threatens to break the delicate alliance between the Allies.
Investigating the murder forces Mary into precarious levels of espionage, role-playing, and deception with her new partner, Mr. Withrow-the nephew and heir of her prominent sponsor, and the spy with whom she's often at odds. Together, they court danger and discovery as they play dual roles gathering intelligence for the British. But soon Mary realizes that her growing feelings towards Mr. Withrow put her heart in as much danger as her life. And then there's another murder.
Mary will need to unmask the murderer before more people are killed, but can she do so and remain hidden in the background?
my thoughts:
Whoa! What a story! I devoured the third book in Katherine Cowley's popular The Secret Life of Mary Bennet series, The Lady's Guide to Death and Deception. It was fantastic! I just loved spending the night reading all about Mary and her new partner, Mr. Withrow - talk about a perfect match! And the drama with her sister Lydia and Mr. Wickham - loved it! Oh, and of course the murder case she is working on for the Duke of Wellington - the intrigue and mystery! This book has it all - romance, family, murder, and thrills! Oh, how I loved it! I would definitely recommend The Lady's Guide to Death and Deception to anyone and everyone looking for a great new series to get stuck in - you are going to LOVE it to bits!!
So, what is the book about? Well, Mary Bennet, of course. And, she's a spy. Yep, she is on duty, along with Withrow, and they are tasked with figuring out who murdered one of the Duke of Wellington's best officers. There are several twists and turns along the way, which help add to the intrigue of this exciting story. As Mary works hard to gather intelligence, she also has to battle her feelings for Withrow - romantic feelings! Oh, my! Plus, her family, which always manages to create drama - this time round she must help out Lydia. And, did I mention that Kitty is now a spy-in-training! How cool! Anyhow, let me just say that there is a lot going on and Mary most definitely has work cut out for her this time round. Luckily, she has Mr. Withrow beside her. And, that is all I will share about this terrific story. You are going to have to read it for yourself to find out whether or not Mary will be successful in work and love.
Remember to check out The Lady's Guide to Death and Deception and the rest of Cowley's books in this wonderful series - you are going to enjoy it so much!! Check it out ASAP!!
