Christmas trees, turkey leftover recipes, and Black Friday ads abound. The holiday season has arrived. And I must admit to being rather excited about it all. The decorations, the food, the music, and Christmas cheer - what more could I ask for? How about books? Yep, family and friends are already asking about gift lists. So, here's my list of new reads I wouldn't mind opening up on Christmas day:
What do you think? Not a bad list, eh? If you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments - I would definitely appreciate it. I'm always on the look out for new-to-me authors to fall in love with. And now, I'm off to start reading the latest book in the Shopaholic series, Shopaholic to the Rescue. Happy reading!!

Aren't book covers great - you have a fine selection here Nadia. I must look up some of those - they look very intriguing. What about the new Penguin Book of the British Short Story ed. Philip Hensher?
I am halfway through Avenue of Mysteries and so glad I did not ditch it! It took forever to get into it but it's really interesting now.
I get most of my books from the library so when it comes to ones I want to own, I'd be happy with any of the rec/white Murakami covers that came out in the UK. I don't care for the ones they did for the US.
This post makes me go ... I want to read that ... and that ... and that. Such gorgeous covers for such interesting stories!
I was lucky enough to see Valeria Luiselli at the National Book Festival this year, and echo those two wants on your list for sure!
I've heard Fates and Furies is really good. I need to read it sometime. Great list - I hope you get every book you wish for!
I'm finally getting into the holiday spirit the past few days. I wasn't sure if it was going to happen, lol. But, my tree is up, and I'm excited for Thanksgiving dinner!
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Nadia!
Tom, I love the covers, too! Thanks! I'm trying to find new-to-me authors to read and these were some of the ones that really called out to me. I can't wait to get my hands on some of them (fingers crossed!). I've read Hensher before, so I'm definitely interested in seeing what he chose for the Penguin Book of the British Short Story. Thanks for mentioning it! And definitely check out some of these titles - they are sure to be great reads!
Ti, I'm glad you didn't ditch it. Sounds like you are enjoying it now :) I love Irving, so I can't wait to read it. I have to admit to buying books more often than not. I should use the library, but somehow never do. I do try to only buy books from authors that I already love or know I will fall in love with. Of course when it comes to Murakami - you know I'm buying those ASAP! I've seen the red/white ones and they are so cool looking. I have to admit to preferring the British covers more sometimes when it comes to book covers. They just seem to identify with the book more.
guiltless reader, thanks! Check out some of these books - they sound sooo good!! I love the covers, too!
Frances, that is so cool you were able to see Luiselli this year - how awesome! I've read so many wonderful things about her latest book, The Story of My Teeth, that I just had to get my hands on a copy and am now lusting after her other two books. I've only read a bit and already love her writing :)
Brandie, thanks! I hope I get them all, too - LOL! Yeah, I've heard so many great things about that one - I really want to read it now.
I put up my tree, too! I couldn't help it - once the Christmas music was on and some gifts were bought, the tree had to go up :) Now I'm excited for Thanksgiving - yummy food and family :)
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving, too!!
